Abstract

The resonance power supply has been proposed as an efficient power supply for a future 60-GeV, kaon factory accelerator. A detailed transient analysis of the circuit operation is presented. On the basis of this analysis the components of the power supply are derived, a line diagram is developed, and component requirements are determined. The major components of the system are the magnet power supply, a high-voltage by-pass thyristor switch with 10-kA repetitive interruption capability, capacitor banks, a capacitor bank thyristor switch, and an energy device.
