Charles Colbourn (Inventor), Violet Syrotiuk (Inventor)

Research output: Patent

Abstract

- Automatic adaptation to loss rates on the channel- No requirement to know loss rate upfront (as other FEC schemes)- No retransmission of packets required (as compared to backward error correction schemes)- Efficient encoding/decoding process (unlike other erasure codes, such as Reed-Solomon or Tornado codes; works in near linear time)- Eliminates need for link establishment (no handshaking required)
