Abstract

The authors discuss opportunistic avenues for synergizing co-evolution of the DAI (distributed artificial intelligence) and EMS (electronic meeting systems) fields. The focus is on CoEx, an EMS designed to support multiple cooperating experts involved in the task of using/prototyping/maintaining a distributed knowledge-based system. The CoEx system includes an object-oriented interface built on an extended relational DBMS (database management system) platform implemented on a network of Sun model 386i workstations. CoEx is a shell system for conducting research in the general area of expert-team work.
