Abstract

A brief description of the condition of Chinese liquid crystal studies and progress of Chinese enterprises of liquid crystal displays (LCD) was presented. Many molecular liquid cystals and side-chain polymer liquid crystals were prepared and investigated and the effect of intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonding the phase behaviour was studied. China has also made great progress in the field of liquid crystal studies and the production technologies of TN-LCDs and STN-LCDs.
