Abstract
The integration of geochronologic and petrologic techniques allows us to recover the PTt paths of metamorphic terrains, and numerical experiments on heat transfer permit us to use PTt paths to constrain the thermal evolution of an orogenic belt. The text describes time-temperature paths and the applications of closure temperature theory; pressure-temperature paths; depth-time paths; placement of PTt paths in their structural context; and areas for future investigation. -A.W.Hall
