Abstract

The rare π+→π0e+v (πβ) decay branching ratio was calculated using a large acceptance calorimeter and a stopped pion beam. The branching ratio was evaluated by normalizing the number of observed πβ decays to the number of observed π+→e+v(πe2) decays. The PIBETA experiment, which is a program of precise measurements of the rare pion and muon decays, was performed. The results confirmed the validity of the radiative corrections for the process at the level of 4σexp.
