Abstract

Written following the completion of the text for this volume, this postscript first outlines the rationale for entitling the book, Ortner’s Identification of Pathological Conditions in Human Skeletal Remains, Third Edition. It then describes the decisions made in creating this third edition, setting it apart from the earlier volumes. In closing, the distinctive nature of 21st century paleopathology is considered.
