Abstract

A scheme, which beamforms from the source to the stronger of direct and relay links, is analyzed in amplify/decode and forward (AF/DF) fixed relay networks. Novel upper-bounds and selection relaying for strong-path beamforming (BF) are presented for AF/DF relaying with known and unknown channel information of the relay link at the source and destination. Performance comparisons are shown among strong-path BF and optimized BF with a corresponding lower-bound.
