Abstract

Pegmatitic micas are diverse in their chemical composition, typomorphic properties, and mineral associations, and they contribute several unique species and varieties to the structural and crystallochemical spectrum of the mica group. This chapter provides a general review of the mica species and their paragenetic position in granitic pegmatites, their principal crystallochemical features and polytypic relationships, and their geochemical evolution in different classes and types of pegmatites.
