Abstract

This paper presents a phasor measurements placement algorithm which enhances the accuracy of the state estimation solutions and increases local redundancy. The algorithm developed determines a list of buses with low local redundancy and a list of buses with low sate estimator accuracy. The optimal placement of phasor measurements is determined by a ranking of group of buses which are determined with respect to the characteristics of phasor measurements. Test results on the IEEE 14-bus and 118-bus IEEE Test System are provided.
