Abstract
The optical nonlinearity of and multiplex holographic storage in azo side-chain liquid crystal polymers were examined by degenerate four-wave mixing and polarized light pump-probe method with a He-Ne laser. The material showed high grating diffraction efficiency and information storage capability in the case of weak absorption. The diffraction efficiency of the grating was up to the order of 10 -2. Results show that the information readout of multiplex holographic storage in the samples can be controlled by the polarization of the readout beam.
