Abstract

The information rates of single-track and multi-track magnetic-recording channels with intertrack interference (ITI) were discussed. It was found that the ITI impact on the information rates of the (2,2) multi-track channel was smaller compared to the single-track channel. The achievable information rates for multi-track magnetic recording-channels under the binary i.i.d. input constraint were computed using a method based on Monte-Carlo simulations.
