Abstract

Time-integrated fluorescence spectra of coumarin 153 in 2-methyltetrahydrofuran were measured for temperatures ranging from T=85 K to T=155 K. The temperature dependent inhomogeneous linewidth σinh(T) was inferred from a Gaussian analysis of the emission profiles. The results lead to the conclusion that the relaxation time scale is a spatially varying quantity.
