Abstract

Computationally generated non-random aptamer libraries greatly increase the efficiency of functional aptamer selection. These non-random aptamer libraries contain a much higher fraction of functional aptamers and are comprised of a significatntly smaller number of DNA/RNA sequences when compared to random libraries. This increased functionality and reduced size greatly improves the efficiency of selection functional aptamers to be used as sensor, catalysts, pharmaceutical agents or other molecular devices. Nonnatural bases can also be incorporated.
