Abstract

This study proposes a numerical approach to the analysis of trusses. Compared to the classical structural analysis approach, the proposed numerical approach is more general and is capable of handling problems such as arbitrarily large deformations, sudden change in geometry in snapping through or buckling, inelastic nonlinear materials as well as non-proportional loading. Several numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the proposed numerical approach.
