Abstract

We investigate joint radar-communications convergence for a multiple-antenna joint radar-communications system and develop radar-communications sharing schemes in spatial domain. In this paper, we develop a multiple-antenna in-band radar and communications system model and provide a set of multiple-access performance bounds, which can be used as a system design tool based on a parameterization of radar system performance. Spatial domain approaches are proposed, and the resulting joint system performance bounds are compared and analysed. Throughout the formulation of these performance bounds, we consider range and angle as target parameters of interest. We utilize the radar estimation rate and data information rate to measure radar and communications system performance respectively.
