Mujerista theology

This chapter invokes mujerista theology to understand how LDS Latinas engage their faith. Placed in a particular border zone of belonging, this trek in mujerista theology provides much needed attention to the endurance of Spanish-speaking women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The chapter centers las mujeres, the women, who breath life into their faith practices. By utilizing archives, oral history, and ethnography/participant observation, this interdisciplinary approach explores how Latina women in the LDS Church navigate their ethnic gendered positions. Marginalized by multiple intersections of power within their church and society, this piece speaks to a Latina theological hermeneutic that recognizes how LDS Latinas fuse faith with perseverance.
