Abstract
We review some of the common features encountered in the description of the current flow through a single molecule and other mesoscopic systems. Attention is also drawn to some important differences due to the nature of the molecular electronic structure. A number of current research problems on Coulomb effects in the field of molecular wires are also discussed.
