Abstract

When a nonuniform plane wave is incident on a plane boundary between two lossy media, a nonuniform transmitted wave is produced. The modified constants describing the propagation of the transmitted wave are derived, which are in general different from the intrinsic constants. Several examples are presented to illustrate when the modified constants should be used.
