Abstract

In this paper, an accurate averaged model of an active-clamp buck converter is presented. An insightful and straightforward derivation method is developed for dealing with signals with large ripple. The large and small signal models are derived and verified through detailed simulations. For the control-to-output bode diagrams, the Simplis simulation result shows a good match with the derived model. Then, an investigation of the active-clamp buck dynamics and the guideline for choosing the clamp capacitor values are provided.
