Abstract

A numerical model of all fiber linear cavity laser is presented. This model includes the spatial hole burning effect, which can be used to support the dual wavelength operation in homogeneous gain medium. A dual-wavelength single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) based on a simple linear cavity is also demonstrated experimentally. The laser output with a wavelength spacing of 27pm is heterodyned on a photodetector to generate a microwave signal of 3.389GHz.
