Abstract

The problem of minimizing the weight of a structure subject to coupled bending and torsional vibrations and frequency constraint has been studied in this paper. Stationary values of an appropriate objective function with both linear and nonlinear contraints have been discussed. Optimal designs of thin walled open section, with and without coupling effects have been compared. The results have also have compared with those of the associated primal problem.
