Abstract

Performance bounds are developed on the bit error probability of turbo codes over a Lorentzian channel, which is a realistic magnetic recording channel model. It is assumed that maximum likelihood decoding and uniform interleaving are employed. The results are applicable to linear codes over ISI channels.
