Abstract
The keepin' it REAL Trainer's Manual offers trainters a step-by-step guide on how to conduct workshops to train teachers, social workers, and/or administrators to implement the keepin' it REAL curriculum for 5th graders (both the Multi-cultural and the Acculturation Enhanced versions). the manual is speicfic to the keepin' it REAL curriculum and includes the following: information about this research-based drug resistance strategies program; workshop agenda overviews; scripted lesson plans for the two-day training module; materials the workshp facilitator used during the training; background information about the keepin' it REAL Project and theory behind the curriculum; and lesson/activity cross-references to the Arizona Academic Standards.The keepin' it REAL Trainer's Manual is a companion piece to the keepin' it REAL curriculum, a research-based intervention program, targeting 5th grade students here in the Southwest, to teach students how to build on the strengths of their culture to resist drugs and alcohol use.
