Abstract

Jaime Manrique's fiction is written and published originally in English and Spanish, with translations from one language to the other. This bilingualism is one of the most important traces of the author's queer agenda, and Manrique develops in his fiction the image of an individual who takes exception to and breaks categorically with the compulsory heterosexism of the Judeo-Christian traditions that prevail in his native Colombia. The variations of his fictional approaches in the matter of queer sexual pulsion are enriched by the manner in which his plots move between the personal and references to historical personages of the region.
