Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel concept of Radar Cardiography (RCG). We demonstrate the ability to achieve precise heartbeat measurement wirelessly using advanced radar signal processing technique. We show that the reconstructed heartbeat waveform matches the reference electrocardiography (ECG) signal. We propose a new heartbeat monitoring method, in which we isolate cardiovascular activity from strong respiratory-inference in the 3-Dimensional (3-D) spaces: azimuth, elevation, and depth. With significant pulse signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) improvement compared to the conventional radar approach, heart-rate variability (HRV) analysis using radar is therefore possible.
