Abstract

The use of a cathode ray tube computer interface allows the interactive digital simulation facility described in this paper to combine the best features of both analog and digital simulation. The user examines his results as they are produced and adjusts his control and data inputs as he would with an analog computer, but, at the same time, he has access to the full power of the FORTRAN language to set up his problem and has the full data documentation capability of the digital computer at his disposal. Applications of this facility to power system automatic generation control, hydro plant dynamics design, and power boiler air flow controls are cited.
