Interactions of molecules with metallic quantum wires

Metallic quantum wires are a potential single-molecule detector. An electrochemical method for the production of ultra-thin Cu or Au wires and the effect of molecular adsorption on their conductance are described; moreover, the stability of quantum wires upon adsorption is discussed.
