Over the past twenty years, sex therapy has developed into a respected professional specialty. At the same time, an artificial distinction seems to have emerged between marital thcrapy and therapy for sexual concerns. This distinction is illustrated by the tendency for professional activity in these areas to be discussed in separate literatures as if sexual and marital concerns were unrelated (Jacobson & Holtzworth-Munroe, 1986). Yet, recent evidence sug- gests that the efficacy of marital therapy and therapy for sexual concerns is increased with greater integration of the two fields (Lo- Larry E. N2 - Enhancing couples' sexual relationships can increase the efficacy of marital therapy. Therapists are encouraged to assess sexual satisfaction and offer sexual enhancement as a part of marital therapy. In this paper, widely applicable sexual enhancement techniques are outlined and illustrated with case examples. Bibliotherapy resources for clients are also suggested.
