Abstract

This paper describes the dynamic simulation of the impact of distributed generation (DG) on an electric distribution system. A simulation model of an actual operating distribution system with hypothetically high levels of DG penetration (10%) is used. The type of DGs installed is assumed to be synchronous machine. The dynamic simulations analyzed are the case studies of non-compliance with the IEEE Std. 1547 and faulty resynchronization of DGs to the grid. The results of this dynamic simulation are useful in understanding and analyzing the system impact of the interconnection of DGs.
