Abstract

A novel solid-state microwave transmitter which is capable of high-speed digital modulation at high RF power levels, and yet is a simple single-stage design, has been realized. This has been accomplished by illuminating a TRAPATT diode with a stream of optical pulses from a GaAlAs laser diode.
