Abstract

A numerical model of a moving chemical bed reactor for gasifying coal using concentrated solar radiation is proposed. It permits the determination of the temperature profiles for both the gas and the solid phases, the velocity and the pressure drop profiles as a function of control parameters such as incident radiative flux, gas flow rate and particle size. The results of this model are in a satisfactory agreement with the experiment ones. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
