Abstract
Several new cycloartane glycosides were isolated from rhizomes of Curculigo orchioides (Xian Mao). One new triterpenoidal sapogenin named curculigenin A, which was common to all the saponins, was identified as 3β,11α,16β-trihydroxycycloartane-24-one by mass spectrometry, 2D-NMR analysis and chemical evidence. On the basis of the chemical evidence and spectral data, the structures of curculigosaponin A-F were elucidated.
