N2 - This article describes a postdoctoral training program in prevention research that provides experiences in conducting generative research studies: developing, conducting, and evaluating preventive interventions; and research methodology. Mechanisms for training include working as research apprentices, working with faculty conducting prevention studies, auditing relevant classes, and participating in a seminar on prevention research. The program is effective in training scientists from a variety of disciplines to conduct prevention research.
