Abstract

This chapter provides precise definitions of the terms symbol, grounding, and embodiment. It then offers examples of the embodied theories that are consistent with the definitions - Barsalou's perceptual symbol system and Roy's robot. It then enumerates several debate questions that will aid in the study of these terms.
