Abstract

ABSTRACT  The intent of this investigation was to extend the teacher attrition knowledge base by analyzing data1 from a major state's teacher workforce data base that included a sub‐population with an academic discipline and contained various characteristics of those foreign language teachers who left teaching. The main objective of the study was to account for the attrition of foreign language teachers in downstate Illinois. Descriptive statistics served as the basic technique for data presentation along with results of logistic regression. The article concludes with discussion and recommendations for future attrition data bases and analyses.
