Expert system for energization of lightly loaded transmission lines

Abstract

This paper describes an expert system which has been developed to assist in the decision making of voltage control during energizing a high voltage line. A set of rules is used to select the appropriate control action to rectify voltage violations. Controls such as shunt reactors and generator voltages are selected, based on the sensitivity factors. The expert system is built using a command language called COPE. The developed system is implemented on an IBM4381 type computer and tested for the reduced Western Systems Coordinating Council power flow data.
