Abstract

The design exemplar has been offered in the literature as a design automation representation structure for embodiment design. Experience with the design exemplar has shown the design exemplar to be tedious to develop. For this reason, an extension to the design exemplar is proposed that offers design automation developers the flexibility of combining atomic design exemplars through exemplar networks. This paper introduces the exemplar networks, providing justifications, algorithms, and demonstrations.
