Abstract

A series of conductivity and diffusion coefficient measurements have been performed on the NaCF 3SO 3:PPG system to estimate the degree of ion-pairing. Approximate values for the diffusion coefficients of Na + and CF 3SO 3 have been determined electrochemically. The temperature and concentration dependence of these diffusion coefficients has been used to calculate ionic conductivities which are compared with observed conductivities. Through these comparisons, the concentration of the associated species can be estimated and related to the available spectroscopically-determined concentration of associated species.
