Abstract

7-Methylguanosine, a component of transfer ribonucleic acid, is demethylated to guanosine, its presumed biochemical precursor, by a powerful new nucleophilic reagent, lithium 2-methylpropane-2-thiolate in hexamethylphosphoramide.
