Abstract

Down to the thin wire: A facile colloidal chemistry method is demonstrated for the controlled growth of highly uniform ultrathin single-crystal ZnS nanowires with a magic-size diameter as low as 1.2nm (see HRTEM image). These ultrathin nanowires could find broad use in sensors, photodetectors, and host materials for diluted magnetic semiconductors.
