Abstract

The IFAC Symposium on Advances in Control Education (ACE ′06) was held 21-23 June 2006 in Madrid, Spain. Papers presented at the oral sessions spanned the diverse nature of control education, providing an accurate picture of the state of the field. The technical program featured three plenary lectures presented by recognized educators in the control engineering field. Karl Åström of Lund University, Sweden gave the opening plenary talk entitled "Challenges in Control Education." Peter Gawthrop from Glasgow University, Scotland spoke on "Using LEGO in Control Education." Finally, Mark Spong of the University of Urbana-Champaign delivered "Project-based Control Education".
