Abstract
An overview of some current maintainability measures is presented along with their deficiencies. These measures are too simplistic and do not isolate and address the distinct quality factor of maintainability. A measure is proposed that directly deals with maintainability and overcomes these deficiencies. Although this metric is still theoretical, it is believed that future estimators based on this metric will have a significant impact on maintenance research.
