Abstract
A global initiative towards commercializing high-information-content flexible displays has given rise to the first commercial product named as Polymer Vision's Radius. The flexible display has already entered the commercial marketplace to some extent through some products, such as Motorola's Motofone handset, wristwatches, and smart cards. Asian organizations are giving their support through aggressive reinvestment of a large revenues produced by their conventional glass based Flat Panel Display (FPD) manufacturing fabs. They are supporting their experience with amorphous silicon thin-film transistors (TFT) and working to transition that powerful know-how to flexible-display manufacturing. This healthy competition, teamed with strategic cooperation and inter-connectivity, should drive the community to collectively arrive at effective solutions.
