Abstract

Recognized nationally by health care organizations, certification and accreditation agencies, and case managers across the care continuum as voluntary practice guidelines, the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) Standards of Practice for Case Management have been revised. The standards have been widely distributed throughout the United States and worldwide to help identify and address the basic knowledge and skill sets that a case manager in today's health care environment should possess. Originally completed in 1995, the standards were updated recently to support consistency between the definition of case management and the standards of care.
