Abstract

The superstrate effects on input impedance, gain and efficiency were discussed for electric current excitations. Cavity-backed slot/patch antennas with dielectric and magnetic overlays were also studied. Cover layers provide an additional degree of freedom to optimize the overall antenna performance. It was found that the presence of the overlay dominates the performance of the antenna.
