Abstract

The 24 radiocarbon calibrated ages presented in this paper represent the first results of a long-term project to date rock art in arid Australia. It is clear that gross changes in the pattern of the motifs cannot be regarded as indicative of age in those sites so far studied in North America, southern Africa, and now in Australia. -J.Sheail
