Abstract
The KIVA family of codes has been used by many researchers for internal combustion engine simulations. However, the spatial accuracy of the code has never been verified. To verify the spatial accuracy of the code a three-dimensional lid-driven cavity is simulated. The results are compared to benchmark solutions. Solutions are obtained with different grid resolutions so that an estimate of the order of the overall method can be made. A secondary objective of this study is to assess the performance of KIVA-3 with respect to scaling and processor utilization.
