The term arthritis covers over 100 specific degenerative and inflammatory conditions that affect joints. This entry covers the role of stress as a causal and exacerbating factor in arthritis disease severity, placing a special emphasis on rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and juvenile arthritis. © 2007
