Abstract

Activity-composition relations in the system MgOZnO were derived from the direction of conjugation lines between oxide and spinel phases in the ternary system MgOZnOAl2O3 at 1205±5°C in air, under the assumption that the spinel phase behaves ideally. The activity curves in the rocksalt region appear more complex than for the CoOZnO and NiOZnO systems studied previously. For the transformation: MgO (rocksalt) = MgO (zincite), ΔG = 9·6 kcal.
